Heart Facts: Learning to Love Your Heart

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America, taking the lives of more women each year than the next seven causes of death combined! 25% of American adults have high blood pressure and nearly 20% have high cholesterol levels.

The foods we eat can lower our risk of heart disease, plain and simple. Participants will learn how to avoid fats that raise LDL cholesterol and how to control certain risk factors for high blood pressure by preventing/avoiding obesity, excess salt consumption and alcohol, and lack of physical activity.

We’ll also explain why eating more whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, lean meat, fish and poultry will help lower cholesterol, blood pressure and the risk of heart disease.
